Ken Resnick: Welcome everyone to the Greensboro Coliseum here in beautiful Greensboro, North Carolina as tonight we present to you, AWA Survivor Series live on PPV!
Jim Ross: This one is going to be a unforgettable night as tonight we are joined here at ringside by the newest member of the AWA announcing team, “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert.
Eddie Gilbert: that’s the hottest and most good looking to you Ross!
Jim Ross: We get underway in quite a fashion tonight as the crown is hanging high above the Greensboro Coliseum here as Curt Hennig, John Studd and the supposed “king” Andy Kaufman will be trying to keep that crown on Kaufman’s head as they will face “Superstar” Billy Graham, Andre the Giant and the true king of wrestling, Jerry Lawler.
Eddie Gilbert: Lawler isn’t the king, you take that back, he doesn’t have the crown!
Ken Resnick: Here comes Graham, Lawler and Andre all in the ring as they are attacking with steel chairs to get this underway! It’s about time that Kaufman finally get what’s coming to him!
Eddie Gilbert: I thought announcers were supposed to be unbiased!
Jim Ross: Look who is talking. Anyways, Andre the Giant has grabbed Andy Kaufman in a bear hug as you remember it was back at AWA Superdome Spectacular when Andre the Giant's hair was cut by one Andy Kaufman after he cheated in the body slam challenge match.
Ken Resnick: it looks like Andy and his Cabaret of Hollywood Stars are just not getting any chance in this match as a one time member of that group, Billy Graham, has his signature Full Nelson locked in on Hennig with Andre the Giant looking.
Eddie Gilbert: What is this totally illegal move?! Jerry Lawler delivers his pile driver, which should be outlawed, on John Studd on top of the steel chair!
Ken Resnick: Wait a minute, where is Andy Kaufman going? Is he trying to escape the onslaught his team is facing? Billy Graham and Jerry Lawler are working over Curt Hennig on the outside as here it is as Andre the Giant FINALLY getting his revenge from AWA Superdome Spectacular as he just successfully slammed John Studd down to the mat as the Richter scale is going off here in Greensboro after that massive earthquake!
Jim Ross: Lawler and Graham are rearranging some furniture here as they possibly are going to try and put Hennig through the tables.
Eddie Gilbert: Wait a minute, Andy Kaufman has reemerged from underneath the ring and he's got a giant size ladder! I don't think Andre knows where Andy is and that and he may come up from behind the Giant and hit him in the head with that ladder!
Eddie Gilbert: Oh look at this! I think Andy Kaufman is going to get the crown down from the top of that ladder and show everyone that he was the true king all along!
Jim Ross: Andre the Giant has noticed what Andy Kaufman is trying to do and I think he is going to put a stop to this and put a stop to this in a real hurry!
Ken Resnick: Andy has been caught and Andre has slid the ladder away from the crown. There is just absolutely no way Kauffmann can get it now and those tables are looming on the floor of the Greensboro Coliseum! This could be mighty interesting to see what happens!
Ken Resnick: What a crash! I can't believe it! Andy Kaufman has fallen off the top of the 20 foot ladder and has gone through all of those tables and chairs on the outside! Kaufman might be knocked out and he may be knocked out for a long, long time!
Ken Resnick: This match is ending the way that it should have all along as Jerry…The TRUE KING Lawler has climbed the ladder himself as all of the Cabaret of Hollywood Stars have been dispatched and Jerry Lawler regains the crown! Along with the help of Andre the Giant and “Superstar” Billy Graham he is victorious and rights all of those wrongs. We will be back with our next match up as it's a battle of the musical instruments with Roddy’s bagpipes versus Honky Tonk’s guitar!
Jim Ross: Well here we go with Roddy Piper taking on Honky Tonk Man as the loser will have his musical instrument destroyed by the winner.
Eddie Gilbert: Roddy Piper looks like he is wasting no time in getting this matchup under way as he is sliding into the ring and wants to get the action going quickly!
Ken Resnick: Roddy Piper hasn't even had a chance to get his kilt off and he is going to town on the Honky Tonk Man with fists left and right that are connecting with the head of the Honky Tonk Man and he's in real trouble already early in this match!
Eddie Gilbert: Roddy Piper is really going to town here as he is smashing the head of the Honky Tonk Man straight into the mat as this is just unbelievable that Roddy Piper really has a score to settle here with the Honky Tonk Man this week here AWA Survivor Series and is going to these drastic lengths.
Jim Ross: Honky Tonk Man now out of the ring as he had to get out of there before Roddy Piper finished him off and finished off his guitar as well.
Eddie Gilbert: Referee Earl Hebner putting the count to the Honky Tonk Man but I got to say I highly doubt that a match like this with the stakes being so high, that this would end on a count out.
Ken Resnick: Roddy Piper is wasting no time as he's not going to wait for Honky Tonk to get back in the ring as he does a baseball side and kicks Honky Tonk right in the as he just went flying into the barricades here at the Greensboro Coliseum!
Jim Ross: Roddy Piper is really going to work here as he is driving the Honky Tonk Man into those barricades as he really has a score to settle here and really wants to destroy that guitar of the Honky Tonk Man and show him that the bagpipes are superior.
Eddie Gilbert: Roddy trying to get back in the ring but he is a little too slow as Honky Tonk Man grabs the advantage in this match as he puts the boots to the back of the Rowdy One as he comes back in the ring.
Jim Ross: Roddy Piper now in trouble as Honky Tonk Man has him up against the ropes and a blatant choke being called as referee Earl Hebner is putting the count on Honky Tonk Man. He better let go and break that up or he runs the risk of getting himself disqualified and in turn getting his guitar destroyed by Piper.
Eddie Gilbert: Now it is Roddy who might be in trouble here as the Honky Tonk Man looks to be setting up for his Shake, Rattle and Roll that we've seen him put plenty of competitors down with this particular maneuver.
Ken Resnick: Here comes the shake, there's the rattle and it looks like we're about to see the roll and we’re about to see the bagpipes destroyed here at AWA Survivor Series!
Eddie Gilbert: Roddy Piper with a reversal as he just shook out of the Shake, Rattle and Roll and into a small package attempt!
Jim Ross: Referee Earl Hebner is down with a count of one, count of two and a count of three! Roddy Piper wins the battle of the bagpipes and the guitar as he will now be free to destroy the guitar of the Honky Tonk Man!
Ken Resnick: Earl Hebner is now raising the hand of Roddy Piper as the guitar is right by our table and the Honky Tonk Man cannot stop this as this was part of the pre-match stipulations that the winner would be able to destroy the others musical instrument!
Jim Ross: What is Ernie Ladd doing in the ring with the Junkyard Dog?!
Ken Resnick: Last week we saw Ladd come out to the ring as he seemed to be studying Junkyard Dog’s match against Dan Severn. But here it looks like he's turned the Dog to the dark side and the Junkyard Dog is attacking Roddy Piper!
Jim Ross: This is unbelievable! How can the Dog do this after all the support the fans have given him over the years?!
Ken Resnick: This has got to stop and this has got to stop right now! Junkyard Dog is choking Roddy Piper with the dog collar and it looks like the Honky Tonk Man is going to be able to escape without having his guitar destroyed. What kind of effect does Ernie Ladd have over the Junkyard Dog? Is this a new and wild side of the Dog that we have never seen before? This is absolutely unbelievable to watch.
Eddie Gilbert: Well, here we go with our special bonus match of the PPV as we are going to have the Fantastics of Tommy Rogers and Bobby Fulton here in tag team action against Rick Rude and Iceman Parsons.
Jim Ross: Looks like before this match has gotten under way, Rick Rude has grabbed the microphone to address this Gino Hernandez and Missy Hyatt contract situation.
Rick Rude: Gino, I need to know what your answer is and I need to know right now. I've offered you the money for your services but like I said, I don't need Missy Hyatt. Missy means nothing to me as I already have the wonderful Sensational Sherri by my side and that's all the woman I need. Listen, it's either take it or leave it at this point as I need to know your answer tonight. I know you don't have any other offers on the table, it's either me or nothing! You're not the hottest free agent, you're the only one that can't find anybody to team up with and know you can’t make it on your own!
Eddie Gilbert: Gino is actually a really great guy. I’ll forever be in debt to him for helping me finally rid the AWA of Jimmy Garvin and Precious.
Jim Ross: Here comes Gino Hernandez and Missy Hyatt down to ringside. Let's see if we can get an answer out of them.
Rick Rude: Well, what's your answer Gino? I'll tell you what, we have a tag team match up against the Fantastics and I'm going to see if you can prove that you're worthy of joining Simply Ravishing. So, I am going to team you up with Iceman Parsons to take on the Fantastics and if you win this match I will let you join Simply Ravishing with the $50,000 contract AND you can bring Missy Hyatt along for the ride in Simply Ravishing.
Gino Hernandez: Okay, that sounds like a deal.
Jim Ross: We are underway here as Bobby Fulton connects with Gino Hernandez to get this match off on the right foot with a flying back elbow drop and looks like Gino is going to have to win this match if he wants to have Missy join him in Simply Ravishing or else he’s back out on the streets looking for another suitor to sign a contract with.
Eddie Gilbert: We've seen the Fantastics fly here in the AWA in the past and there goes Bobby Fulton flying off the top rope and connecting with a big elbow drop on Gino Hernandez.
Ken Resnick: I'll tell you, if Gino doesn't go impressing Rick Rude enough, he may not be able to even join Simply Ravishing to begin with and Rude might just pull the offer straight off the table!
Jim Ross: The Fantastics are just continuing to dominate this match up as they have Gino all tied up here as the Fantastics are connecting with the double Russian leg sweep as referee Danny Davis gives them to the five count to try and get out of the ring so that there's no double teaming which could lead to a disqualification.
Ken Resnick: Bobby Fulton has left the ring but that doesn't mean that Tommy Rogers can't continue the destruction as he just connects with a flying head scissors on the Iceman King Parsons as this is just unbelievable that Fantastics are running over this team. If they continue like this they may easily find themselves with an AWA World Tag Team title shot!
Jim Ross: Wait a minute here, who is this?
Eddie Gilbert: That's Ted DiBiase as we have not seen Ted DiBiase here in a while but he's got a giant box with him and he is talking to Gino Hernandez over in the corner as Sensational Sherri and Rude are wondering what Hernandez and DiBiase talking about.
Ken Resnick: Ted DiBiase has handed a box full who knows what to Gino Hernandez and it looks like him and Missy Hyatt are leaving the ring as they look like they're going to leave Iceman Parsons high and dry! Ted DiBiase looks to have made some sort of deal with Gino Hernandez and it's Rick Rude who's left out in the dark on this one.
Eddie Gilbert: Iceman Parsons is being left without a partner here as here the Fantastics go with the big double team move as Bobby Fulton is up on top of the shoulders of Tommy Rogers and it looks like he's going to come down with the big body splash!
Ken Resnick: There is the big body splash as referee Danny Davis is down for the three count as Rude can only look on as he was not an official part of this match and there's the count of three as the Fantastics picking up the win over Iceman Parsons and I guess officially in the record books it will be a loss for Gino as well.
Jim Ross: Danny Davis making it official as the Fantastics winning this match as Rude is working on trying to figure out exactly where Gino Hernandez stands in all of this as Sensational Sherri is down tending to Iceman Parsons. We will be right back after this with the big AWA World Tag Team title match.
Ken Resnick: Here we go as Jake Roberts as we saw it last week dumped the One Man Gang and King Kong Bundy from his Snake Pit stable in his shocking return to the AWA. He has enlisted himself the help of Ax and Smash collectively known as Demolition and he got them the open contract and tonight will take on the team of Chris Adams and Terry Taylor for the AWA World Tag Team championship.
Eddie Gilbert: Well here comes Terry Taylor and Chris Adams as we've seen these two have had their problems over the past few weeks and it looks like it may be continuing here tonight because Terry Taylor isn't even walking down the entrance way along with Chris Adams. These two have had their issues as Terry Taylor seems to be the one that wants to be in the spotlight and wants to push Chris Adams to the side and let him play second fiddle.
Ken Resnick: Referee Earl Hebner has been assigned to this contest as Terry Taylor stepped in front of Chris Adams and says that he will be the representative for the team to listen to the referee’s instructions.
Eddie Gilbert: The captain of the team, Terry Taylor sends Adams in the ring first as Smash immediately goes to work smashing, no pun intended, to the back of Chris Adams with a high knee to the lower back. These guys are just going to be punishers in the ring and it could be very interesting to see if Adams and Taylor can hang with the strength and power of Demolition especially with the lack of team chemistry that they have been having as of late.
Jim Ross: Some sort of arm lock/headlock/bear hug as I'm not sure what it is as right now it has Chris Adams in quite the submission predicament as Earl Hebner is right in there asking Chris Adams if he wants to submit but so far Adams will not give in to the pressure of Demolition and this submission attempt.
Ken Resnick: Chris Adams definitely in trouble here as he's looking for the tag but Terry Taylor..what is he doing?!
Terry Taylor: I am the greatest on this earth! I am the star of this team not, Chris Adams! I am the only champion on this teams and I am the number one star on this team, not Adams!
Eddie Gilbert: Well, he does make some valid points….
Jim Ross: Adams was not able to get the tag because Taylor was chatting away with Eddie Gilbert here on the outside, however, Smash was able to get the fresh man into the ring for his team. Ax is now going to work on Chris Adams. If this continues, Chris Adams may not be able to hold onto those tag team titles like he was a couple weeks ago until Taylor ran in after “transportation issues” and then causing a disqualification loss for attacking with a foreign object.
Eddie Gilbert: Chris Adams comes roaring back as he delivers a giant clotheslines as this might be the chance for Chris Adams to finally get the tag out and get in the fresh man in Terry Taylor into this match. You know…the star of this team who will win them the match.
Jim Ross: Adams is down as again he is reaching out for the tag. Ax also is down, who will get the tag first? But the bigger question is will Terry Taylor even accept the tag from Chris Adams?!
Ken Resnick: What is this? Chris Adams went to go and tag in Terry Taylor but again Taylor has come over to the accouncers table to gloat!
Terry Taylor: These tag team belts are so shiny I can see my face in them! With me being the tag team champion I'm always going to hold onto these titles since I am the best in the world! Only an inferior athlete like Chris Adams would ever lose these titles!
Ken Resnick: Chris Adams just dropped on the top of his head by Smash who of course was tagged in by a partner, because that’s what tag team partners do. This could be it for Chris Adams as he is in big trouble of losing this match now because Taylor will tag in and Adams has spent this entire match in the ring taking punishment without a break.
Ji m Ross: A side takedown by Smash and it looks like this might be it for Chris Adams, but here finally Terry Taylor is coming to the ring and he is helping out Adams by walloping Ax right in the face! It’s about time he prove himself in this match!
Ken Resnick: Smash with the pin attempt but this should be broken up as Chris Adams has his foot on the rope but I don't think Earl Hebner sees it….
Jim Ross: Wait, a count of three?! Terry Taylor looks like he purposely stuck his foot up on the rope and took Chris Adams foot off the bottom rope which is why it was not broken up and Hebner went through with the full three count causing Chris Adams to lose the fall!
Eddie Gilbert: I can't believe this we have brand new AWA World Tag Team champions in Demolition all because Chris Adams had to try and hog the spotlight in the ring and refused to tag out to the superior wrestler.
Ken Resnick: Ah, c’mon now Eddie, you know that wasn’t the case through the course of this match. Nonetheless, Adams and Taylor continue their argument in the ring as there was a definite and blatant pushing of the foot by Terry Taylor that took his partner’s foot off the bottom rope which would've caused the break and they'd still be champions right now. What unbelievable scenario we have just seen unfold here at AWA Survivor Series. We’ll be right back with our explosive main event!
Ken Resnick: Well, here we go with the main event of AWA Survivor Series as we're going to have a three team triangle match with three man on each team. The men representing the Jim Cornette Experience will be the “Russian Nightmare” Nikita Koloff, Bam Bam Bigelow and Buzz Sawyer. They will take on the team of Magnum TA, Dusty Rhodes and Lex Luger. Finally to round it all out, there will be the Four Horsemen team consisting of Arn Anderson, Barry Windham and the AWA World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair. This will be a one by one elimination match and whoever scores the winning fall of this match will be the AWA World Heavyweight Champion.
Jim Ross: Referee Danny Davis is scheduled to officiate this match but as we saw the last week or last month at AWA Southwest Shootout, Ric Flair kept the title through some rather dubious means as we saw Danny Davis actually seem to throw the match in favor of Ric Flair. Let’s see what is said here as out comes AWA President Stanley Blackburn along with Referee Earl Hebner to the ring.
Stanley Blackburn: I've got a special announcement to make for this match. We are going to have two referees in this match as I can't fully trust Danny Davis to be impartial in this match after his actions at AWA Southwest Shootout. So, the AWA senior referee, Earl Hebner will also be assigned to this match because of its importance and the many men in the ring all at one time. We will now have two men to officiate this match so that we can have a clean and fair winner.
Eddie Gilbert: Here we go with this elimination match as Lex Luger immediately attacks and he's got Nikita Koloff in the torture rack! This could be a quick exit for Nikita!
Ken Resnick: I can’t believe it, immediately Nikita has given up in this match and the Jim Cornette Experience is already one man down in this match! Lex just wanted to prove a point after AWA Southwest Shootout when the Nikita submission was not “noticed” by Danny Davis.
Jim Ross: They are really going to town on the Jim Cornette Experience here as Dusty Rhodes is dropping the Bionic Elbow hard into the head of Buzz Sawyer. Meanwhile, Arn Anderson is working over the legs of Bam Bam Bigelow as it looks like they're trying to eliminate the whole Jim Cornette Experience in one fell swoop!
Ken Resnick: Magnum TA is going to connect with the belly to belly suplex here as I think the Jim Cornette Experience could be down yet another man here real quick in this all important match with such high stakes on the line.
Jim Ross: The belly to belly suplex connects for the three count as Buzz Sawyer is now eliminated from this match and the Jim Cornette Experience is only down to one man in Bam Bam Bigelow.
Eddie Gilbert: The Horseman are now being attacked by Magnum, Lex and Dusty as Barry Windham looks like he's going up for the superplex on Bam Bam Bigelow in the corner to finish off the third of the Cornette trio.
Ken Resnick: Windham connects with the superplex off the top rope as Bigelow is now eliminated from this match and it's going to be down to the Horseman against Magnum, Lex and Dusty, the three we wanted to see it come down to!
Jim Ross: Ric Flair looks to be somewhat down and out here as he may be very vulnerable to elimination as Arn Anderson looks to be completely out of it and Barry Windham may be the only fresh man left on the Four Horsemen team to help Flair keep the AWA title.
Ken Resnick: Magnum, Lex and Dusty attack as Magnum TA has Ric Flair in the Figure Four leg lock as the Four Horsemen may be losing their grip on the AWA World Heavyweight Championship!
Jim Ross: Look at this as Barry Windham now submits to the torture rack! That is it for Barry Windham as it is now going to be a three on two advantage against the Horseman. The odds are really starting to stack up against Flair keeping the title at this point!
Jim Ross: Magnum TA is like a eliminating machine in there as he connects with the belly to belly suplex yet again, this time on Arn Anderson and the Horsemen could be down yet another man!
Ken Resnick: That’s all she wrote for Arn Anderson in this one as the Horsemen are suddenly down to only Ric Flair as it will now be a three on one situation! Ric Flair is definitely in trouble of losing the title now with these odds stacked against him!
Eddie Gilbert: Now this right here is just not fair, the champion should not be in a position like this. Talk about being stuck between a rock and a hard place, , Ric Flair is staring down the barrel of Dusty Rhodes, Magnum TA and Lex Lugar and if he gets pinned or submitted by anyone of these men he will lose the title to that man that gains the fall on him! It can’t end this way, it just can’t!
Jim Ross: WAIT! WHAT? What the heck is this?!
Eddie Gilbert: That’s Terry Funk!
Jim Ross: Terry Funk has just came in and hit Magnum TA right over the back of the head with a steel chair! We have not seen Terry Funk in the AWA in months since the sudden departure of Stan Hanson after his defeat at the hands of Ric Flair back at AWA Wrestlemania!
Jim Ross: Terry Funk is going absolutely crazy with that branding iron as he just clocked Dusty right in the skull with that solid steel branding iron! We knew this man was crazy, we just didn’t know he was THIS crazy!
Ken Resnick: Terry Funk has gone absolutely nuts as he has just thrown Lex Luger over the top rope as he has landed right here on the announcers table and I think Lex might be knocked out as he smacked his head really hard on that ring bell on the table!
Jim Ross: Terry Funk is absolutely going nuts dropping fist after fist on the head of Ric Flair! Terry Funk has made a sudden and surprising reappearance here in the AWA and has set his sights on the destruction of Ric Flair and for that matter any one that is in his path!
Eddie Gilbert: Terry Funk has cleared the ring and I'm not really sure that the referees know what to do here as he's attacking all of the Four Horsemen with the branding iron as he has decided to attack Barry Windham as Arn Anderson is trying to get Ric Flair to safety here. Terry Funk has got this wild look in his eye like he's ready to destroy anything in everything standing in his way!
Ken Resnick: A vicious piledriver by Terry Funk he's laid everybody out in the ring as Terry Funk has gone absolutely nuts!
Jim Ross: Terry Funk is again driving that branding iron into the head of Ric Flair! Terry Funk is out for revenge and my guess is that it would be in the name of his friend Stan Hanson who we have not seen in months since the disappearece off the face of the earth when it comes to professional wrestling as he has not been heard from since Wrestlemania and losing his title to Ric Flair.
Jim Ross: Terry Funk has taken the bottom rope off of the ring and he’s got a Figure Four with Ric Flair's leg wrapped around the ring post! Bobby Heenan is trying to get his leg off of Terry Funk as Ric Flair is screaming at the top of his lungs as it looks like he's trying to destroy the knee of Ric Flair.
Ken Resnick: Terry Funk is continuing his onslaught as he is smashing Flair’s knee with a steel chair right. Terry Funk has gone off the deep end this is one of the most chaotic scenes that I've ever seen as I am now getting word that this match is being ruled a no contest and Ric Flair will keep his world title as a result of that decision.
Terry Funk: Ken Resnick, I am out here for one thing and one thing only and that's a complete and utter destruction of Ric Flair and the Four Horsemen. Dusty, Lex and Magnum you're just in my way I will be the one that wins the title and grabs it away from Flair and takes away everything that is near and dear to him and that is the AWA World Heavyweight Championship!
Ken Resnick: Terry Funk has made his arrival here in the AWA as that is all the time we have tonight here on AWA Survivor Series. For Jim Ross and Eddie Gilbert, I'm Ken Resnick wishing you a good night!
