Ken Resnick: Welcome, every one as the American Wrestling Association presents our fourth big pay-per-view, AWA War Games! We have five big star studded matches for you tonight as all the titles will be on the line and many scores will be settled. I am joined here ringside with the one and only Verne Gagne. Verne, what do you think of tonight's card?
Verne Gagne: I'll tell you what Ken, it's going be an action-packed card here at AWA War Games. I'll tell you what, we are going to get things started off hot and heavy here as referee Marty Miller already has entered the ring and we have a barbwire match to kick us off between the one and only Bruiser Brody taking on Abdullah the Butcher!
Ken Resnick: I cannot believe this site that we are seeing here as we have two men inside of a ring with barbwire wrapped around the ropes. Bruiser Brody has entered the ring with his signature solid steel chain. Meanwhile, Abdullah the Butcher has entered with his mysterious and now infamous Mongolian Spike that he likes to carry around.
Verne Gagne: This one is going to be a war and it's pretty much a guarantee that it’s going to get bloody.
Verne Gagne: This match already has started out getting hot and heavy as Abdullah the Butcher was pushed back against the barbwire by Bruiser Brody, but Abdullah is able to counter and he's jamming that Mongolian Spike right into the forehead of Bruiser Brody.
Ken Resnick: This one is already getting vicious and we're only just beginning here at AWA War Games!
Verne Gagne: Abdullah the Butcher has a claw hold on Bruiser Brody.
Ken Resnick: I have never seen Abdullah use the claw hold so effectively and all the more impressive is that it’s on a man the stature of Bruiser Brody.
Verne Gagne: Brody seems to be really down and out at this point in the match. This is a devastating hold that Abdullah the Butcher is using here. It can really wear a man down. I'm not sure if Brody is going to be able to hold on too much longer in this match up.
Ken Resnick: A devastating move by Abdullah the Butcher with a running power slam. He has smashed Bruiser Brody right of that wire.
Verne Gagne: Bruiser Brody is hanging upside down by his furry boots from the wire. This is just an unbelievable site that we are seeing here.
Ken Resnick: Oh what a gruesome scene here as Bruiser Brody is getting his head dragged along the wire.
Verne Gagne: We've seen the many scars on Abdullah’s head but it looks like Abdullah is trying to leave his mark on Bruiser Brody by adding a few scars to his forehead as well.
Ken Resnick: And another violent collision with the barbwire ropes as Abdullah the Butcher sends Bruiser Brody sprawling into the ropes again.
Verne Gagne: Brody again connects with the barbwire. This is an absolutely vicious scene that we are seeing from Abdullah the Butcher. I don't think we've ever seen him at this height of violence here in the AWA.
Ken Resnick: Just as we thought Abdullah was about to throw all of his weight into the body of Bruiser Brody who was lying prone on the barbwire, Abdullah has himself choked up in the barbwire.
Verne Gagne: Referee Marty Miller is out there trying to get Abdullah untangled from the sharp metal wire. Marty Miller may have to think about stopping this match, the violence is just escalating to quickly here at AWA War Games.
Verne Gagne: This does not look good for Abdullah. Brody has the absolutely enormous body of Abdullah on his shoulder. Where is he getting this burst of strength from after such a brutal match that he has already gone through? Abdullah is now up on the shoulders of Bruiser Brody and Brody looks to be aiming at the corner that has the table wrapped in barbwire. This could have very horrific, maybe even, fatal consequences if Brody goes through with what I'm thinking he wants to do!
Ken Resnick: Oh what a gigantic crashing sound we have just heard as Bruiser Brody sends Abdullah crashing through the barbwire table!
Verne Gagne: That has got to be one of the sickest noises I have ever heard in my entire life!
Ken Resnick: Marty Miller is down for the count and pins Abdullah’s shoulders down for the three count. Bruiser Brody wins this match up by sending Abdullah the Butcher through a barbwire table! After that, we may never see Abdullah the Butcher ever again here in the AWA!
Ken Resnick: Bruiser Brody stands victorious as he has claimed the Mongolian Spike of Abdullah the Butcher as his own as well as his very own chain. A symbol of conquering Abdullah perhaps?
Verne Gagne: Marty Miller as you can see is over in the corner trying to untangle Abdullah the Butcher from the barbwire. That was just an absolute violent and bloody scene that we've seen here at AWA War Games. We will be right back as we move on with our next big match as “Superstar” Billy Graham defends the AWA United States Championship along with partner Andy Kaufman in a handicap match against the Junkyard Dog.
Ken Resnick: At the last AWA pay-per-view, AWA Wrestle Rumble, we saw a 20 man over the top rope battle royal that ended with “Superstar” Billy Graham being crowned as the first ever AWA United States Champion. However, it wasn't without its controversy as Andy Kaufman hid under the ring the entire match only to emerge at the end of the match to help Graham eliminate Junkyard Dog to win the title. The Dog has been looking for a rematch in this past week on AWA All-Star Wrestling TV and this past week we saw AWA President, Stanley Blackburn, declare JYD the number one contender. But it didn’t come without a catch, as Andy Kaufman will also be in this match with Billy Graham. Furthermore it has been decided that whoever scores the pin or submission in this match will be the AWA United States Champion.
Verne Gagne: And here they, better known as “Andy Kaufman’s Cabaret of Hollywood Stars”, we have the AWA United States Champion, Billy Graham carrying Andy Kaufman on his shoulders.
Ken Resnick: Andy Kaufman is such a big Hollywood star but here I think he may be overestimating the Junkyard Dog. I have a feeling that the Dog has some other matters that he'd like to get off his chest.
Verne Gagne: This match starts off at a fast and furious pace as Junkyard Dog sends Andy Kaufman over the top rope to begin the match!
Ken Resnick: With Andy Kaufman sprawled out on the floor it looks like we're finally going to get this one-on-one matchup between the Dog and Graham, even though Andy Kaufman is still in this match, we’ll definitely have to remember to keep an eye on him as well as this match progresses.
Verne Gagne: The Junkyard Dog delivering one of his patented head butts as Billy Graham is in desperate need of some help here.
Ken Resnick: I am not really sure how much help Andy Kaufman is going to be able to lend him in this match. The title may be slipping away from Andy Kaufman's Cabaret of Hollywood Stars here and heading into the hands of the one and only Junkyard Dog!
Verne Gagne: and Kaufman, try as he might is trying to give as much help and reassurance to Graham as he can. I’m not sure that in the end Kaufman may help or hinder Graham from keeping the title.
Ken Resnick: A big right hand swing by the Junkyard Dog and he absolutely floors Kaufman with that huge punch! Junkyard Dog is finally getting the revenge that he wants against Andy Kaufman and his Cabaret of Hollywood Stars! Now can the Dog finish off the deal and take home the AWA United States Championship?
Ken Resnick: The Dog has Graham backed into the corner while Kaufman is definitely laying on the floor now and I doubt we’ll see him again in this match. Another big head butt from the Dog and it seems like it's only a matter of time now that the Dog will be wrapping this big title win for the AWA United States Championship and wrapping it around his waist!
Verne Gagne: The Dog is going for the pin but what is Andy Kaufman doing? He's up on the ropes distracting the Dog. He’s also distracting Marty Miller from making the count as well!
Ken Resnick: Andy Kaufman turn your back! Mr. T the hit television show, the A-Team, has jumped up on the apron and he’s going to help the Junkyard Dog get rid of Andy Kaufman! Mr. T is blocking Kaufman from exiting the ring and in the meantime Kaufman does not know that the Junkyard Dog is right behind!
img.photobucket.com/albums/v355/supreme15/AWAWarGames/IMG_4464_zpsas1lfwvb.jpg
Ken Resnick: Mr. T goes to throw a punch, but hey, it looks like he just hit the Junkyard Dog on purpose!
Verne Gagne: Oh you have got to be kidding me! Andy Kaufman has pinned the Junkyard Dog and he is the new United States Champion. He is being flocked by his Cabaret of Hollywood Stars, including “Superstar” Billy Graham and apparently the newest member of the group, Mr. T!
Ken Resnick: This is unbelievable that Andy Kaufman now holds the AWA United States Championship. It was basically delivered to him on a silver platter if you ask me.
Ken Resnick: Andy Kaufman is so out of it after being tossed from the ring, that I don’t even think he knows he’s won the title yet. Let’s move on from this, I can’t wait until he has to defend that title in a one on one match.
Ken Resnick: Moving on here at AWA War Games, this is one that I know we’ve all been looking forward to quite a bit as this is the last match ever between these two teams as far as the tag titles are concerned.
Verne Gagne: We will have The Road Warriors with their manager Paul Ellering taking on the team of Greg Gagne and Curt Hennig in a ladder match for the AWA World Tag Team Championship. After all the injuries and sneak attacks, this is it and I don’t think we could see a better way of watching this feud finally gets settled.
Ken Resnick: Curt and Greg jump in the ring and we are under way. As you can see the AWA World Tag Team Title belts are already hanging high above the ring. Both teams are trying to get their exact revenge on the other.
Verne Gagne: Remember that both of these teams have agreed that this is it. This is the last title shot for either team after this match. The stakes couldn’t be any higher, no pun intended, for this match.
Ken Resnick: Hennig and Gagne are both working over I believe that is Animal with his face all covered up by the ladder in the corner.
[Verne Gagne: They are just going to town on the head and neck region of Animal. Curious as to why they wouldn’t go for his legs, then you can’t climb the ladder. But maybe attacking his head messes up his equilibrium in climbing the ladder.
Ken Resnick: But they turn their backs a little too soon as Hawk comes in and clears them both out with a running start as he delivers a blow with the ladder to both Hennig and Gagne.
Verne Gagne: Hawk is showing his power in this match as he takes Greg Gagne and body slams him on that ladder that is perched in the corner. Meanwhile, as you can see on the outside, manager of the Road Warriors, Paul Ellering barking marching orders at both men as he tries to get the tag team titles back for his team that they lost them just a few months ago.
Verne Gagne: My word! Animal showing his vicious side as he has Greg caught between the one ladder and he drops the other ladder down on top of the back of Greg! What an unbelievable sight that we are seeing here in this match. I can’t see how the careers of any of these men can ever be the same.
Ken Resnick: Here we are with the first attempt to try and climb the ladder to get the titles. Hawk is almost there, the belts are right at his fingertips.
Verne Gagne: But maybe more interesting is the plotting of more revenge as on the outside Animal is setting up a contraption of chairs and tables!
Verne Gagne: Greg and Curt put a quick end to Hawk’s attempt to grab the tag team title belts on the top of the ladder as they have attacked from behind.
Ken Resnick: But careful on the outside as Animal is grabbing that supersize ladder from the outside of the ring that was handed to him by Paul Ellering!
Ken Resnick: This is possibly the most dangerous yet purely spectacular scene I have seen in all my years of wrestling journalism. This could easily get out of hand in a hurry as all four men are now perched on two ladders in the middle of the ring!
Verne Gagne: Hawk and Animal are trying to grab the titles! Hennig and Greg are trying to grab the titles! This is just dangerous these men are playing on that fine line of life or death right! I am breathless at the moments.
Ken Resnick!Now hold on a second…that’s, that’s….!
Verne Gagne: What are those three doing here!
Ken Resnick: Hold on a second here, that's right, Buddy Rose, Doug Somers and Sherri Martel have hit the ring and it doesn’t look like they have the best of intentions!
Verne Gagne: What are they doing here? Sherri Martel is wrapping a rope around the throat of Paul Ellering on the outside and he has been rendered unconscious!
Ken Resnick: Oh…..oh no. This is not good. That has got to be the biggest crash I've ever heard in my entire life. “Playboy” Buddy Rose and “Pretty Boy” Doug Somers have tipped all the ladders over and sent all four men crashing through those chairs and tables! Unbelievable!
Verne Gagne: I don't know who the winner of this match is going to be. I don't think any of the men can continue in this match.
Buddy Rose: Everybody if you don't know our names you're going to learn them soon enough! I am the “Playboy” Buddy Rose and this is the “Pretty Boy” Doug Somers along with our bodacious valet, Sherri Martel! You see they told me long ago that we weren’t the right fit for the AWA. They told us we weren’t welcome here. They thought we’d run over their tag title division too easily and make everybody look bad. So we just decided to come in and make our own path. You see for one thing those titles that are hanging up above us right now in the ring are in reality ours. They should have been all along. If it wasn’t for the AWA’s lawyers filing an injunction against us, we would have been here all along and held the titles all that time. We are here now and we are going to take those titles from all those teams that slighted us in the past. We are on a trail of revenge right now, this is only the start. I don't know what day it’ll be but I'll tell you right now that at the end of the day it's going to be Rose and it's going to be Somers walking out with the tag team titles wrapped around their waists.
Ken Resnick: What a way to make an entrance, we’ll be right back after this brief break!
Verne Gagne: Now this one is going be a very interesting matchup, the tension in this match comes in many different layers. On one side, we have the Hot Stuff International team of Eddie Gilbert and Rick Rude as they are accompanied by the tag team of the Long Riders of Bill and Scott Irwin. They will be taking on the team of Ronnie Garvin and what can only be described as a bearded woman, known only as “Ms. Gorgeous.” “Ms. Gorgeous” has professed that she will show her true identity tonight at AWA War Games if her team is defeated. But before we get underway it appears that Rick Rude and Eddie Gilbert are making up in the ring. We've seen some trouble and tension from these two as a love triangle has broken out between Gilbert, Rude and the valet of Hot Stuff International, Precious.
Ken Resnick: It looks like the Long Riders are building a wall around Gilbert, Rude and Precious as Ms. Gorgeous and Ronnie Garvin have made their way inside of the ring.
Verne Gagne: The right hand of Ronnie Garvin broke that wall down in a hurry! Both of the Long Riders are high tailing it out of the ring!
Ken Resnick: It’s got to be the right hand of Ronnie Garvin that they are scared of. Over consecutive weeks on AWA All-Star Wrestling, Garvin knocked both of them out with his “Hands of Stone” punch.
Eddie Gilbert: What are you two doing?! You're supposed to be in here protecting me from that crazy guy! What are you two doing, what do I pay you for?!
Verne Gagne: I think the Long Riders have had enough of getting their clocks cleaned by Garvin!
ken Resnick: Gilbert better watch his back because Ms. Gorgeous is about to sneak up from behind!
Ken Resnick: Ronnie Garvin sends Rude and Gilbert flying over the top rope!
Verne Gagne: Ms. Gorgeous has taken the shirt and wig off and has been revealed to be “Gorgeous” Jimmy Garvin!
Verne Gagne: Jimmy lost a loser leaves town for 30 days match back at AWA Wrestle Rock. You can bet that Garvin is back for revenge on Gilbert for stealing Precious from him back at Wrestle Rock.
Ken Resnick: But better yet, he’s getting the ultimate revenge on Gilbert as he is now laying a big smooch on the lips of Precious!
Ken Resnick: Garvin is an absolute house on fire as he goes bounding over the top rope and into the hands of Rude and Gilbert who are on the outside after that big clear out of the ring by Ronnie Garvin!
Verne Gagne: And this is the moment that Jimmy Garvin has been waiting for as he is going to work on Eddie Gilbert! The month of frustration is finally boiling over for Jimmy Garvin who had to leave the AWA for 30 days because of Eddie Gilbert and is underhanded and sneaky tactics. Right now, Garvin is using all that frustration to unleash damage to Gilbert’s face, he is a man who is out for revenge!
Ken Resnick: Ronnie Garvin tagged in now, would you listen to Gilbert screaming as he needs a tag out in the worst way. I don't think either Gilbert or Rude are going to want to get in there with either of the Garvins right now.
Verne Gagne: Ronnie Garvin is on fire tonight as he has Gilbert up in an airplane spin!
Ken Resnick: Gilbert rolls out of the winning looking for a reprieve so Rude comes in and gets a side slam for his troubles! Between his technical prowess and his incredible “Hands of Stone”, Ronnie Garvin may be a force here in the near future!
Ken Resnick: Uh oh! We knew it was going to boil over at some point as both of the members of the Hot Stuff International team are on the outside after taking a beating and it looks like we're having a little bit of disconnect as Rude is comforting himself with Precious! Eddie Gilbert is screaming at Precious!
Eddie Gilbert: Rick! That’s MY girl. This is MY group.
Ken Resnick: Seems like there is a little bit of dissension here amongst the ranks as to who the true leader of Hot Stuff International is and exactly who Precious seems smitten over more, Gilbert or Rude. This situation could get real interesting, real quick!
Verne Gagne: While they're arguing on the outside Ronnie Garvin drags Eddie Gilbert back in the ring and drops Gilbert with a big press slam!
Ken Resnick: Eddie Gilbert is desperately looking for a tag from Rick Rude, but Rude is checking out Precious on the outside! Gilbert can't make the tag with Rude’s back turned!
Verne Gagne: Rude jumps off the apron to talk to Precious and there is the giant right-hand face by Ronnie Garvin! Eddie Gilbert is going to be down for the count after that big blow!
Ken Resnick:With Eddie Gilbert definitely down for the count, Ronnie Garvin tags in Jimmy Garvin, so that Garvin can get the ultimate revenge and the best revenge their ever can be, the pin fall.
Verne Gagne: Jimmy get the gets the three count as Ronnie Garvin plays protection but I don't think Rude really cares at this point. He doesn't care he lost the match now he just cares that he has Precious by his side. There is definitely some disconnect and questions to be answered between Hot Stuff International especially after that match. And to complicate this love triangle even more, we now have Jimmy Garvin back in the picture! We know that Garvin’s feeling for Precious are still there. This could end up being a very, very, interesting scenario. A love triangle maybe is becoming a love square?
Ken Resnick: Next up is the War Games steel cage match where the winner walks out with the AWA World Heavyweight Championship! Stay tuned!
Ken Resnick: Here it is folks, the match we have been waiting for, AWA War Games inside of the steel cage. The rules for the match are as follows, once all eight man have entered the ring, the first man to pin or submit a member of the opposing team will be determined the winner. The winner who scores the pin fall or submission will also become the AWA World Heavyweight Champion. Entering the cage first for the Four Horsemen is the “Enforcer” Arn Anderson.
Verne Gagne: Jumping in the ring first for team Dusty Rhodes is “Captain Redneck” Dick Murdoch of the West Texas Cowboys. He is all over Arn Anderson. These two men are probably at the biggest disadvantage in the match as they are the two men starting out must survive the other six men who will enter after them.
Ken Resnick: The Four Horsemen have won the coin flip and take the one man advantage. With that coin flip win they will carry the man advantage throughout the match. Harley Race jumps in the cage and is holding Dick Murdoch back as Arn Anderson and works over his midsection.
Verne Gagne: The next man in for Team Rhodes is Scott Hall. You’ll remember that it was just last month at AWA Wrestle Rumble that he had seemingly won the AWA World Title only to have the Four Horsemen interfere in the match.
Ken Resnick: Here we get an up close and personal view of Scott Hall rubbing Arn Anderson’s head across the unforgiving steel mesh like a cheese grater!
Ken Resnick:Here at the AWA we are on the cusp of technology as we bring you a camera angle you don’t see often as you can see now the view from high above the cage as Dusty Rhodes and Barry Windham have joined this match. These guys are just absolutely beating each other up and we still have one man of piece for each team to join this match! /and those two are probably the two biggest wild cards in the match. Ric Flair, the leader of the Four Horseman as well as the AWA World Heavyweight Champion, Stan Hanson.
Verne Gagne: Ric Flair is the first to join the match and he has already locked in that devastating Figure Four leg lock on Scott Hall! Right now Team Rhodes is at the biggest disadvantage right now with a four on three advantage. Right now it is all Four Horsemen in this match.
Ken Resnick: Is that the AWA World Heavyweight Champion perched on top of the cage ready to fly off the top?!
Verne Gagne: Stan Hanson jumps from the top of the cage and he lands on all of the Four Horsemen! The tide of this match surely has changed with that gigantic move!
Ken Resnick:Hold on a second here as Ric Flair has wrapped his hand up with what looks to be some sort of illegal object!
Verne Gagne: Ric Flair connects with a big blow to the side of the head of Hanson with that illegal object! I can't believe this looks like he's going to knock him out and win the championship!
Ken Resnick: Flair has Hanson pinned but Harley Race is taking away the attention of the referee so that he can’t make the count for Flair. Dusty Rhodes is being choked by Harley Race but Marty Miller is being distracted! Marty’s back is turned and Flair is screaming at Harley to let go of the submission move on Rhodes so he can claim the world title. Is Race in it perhaps for himself to get the AWA World Title?
Verne Gagne: Ric Flair is in the corner admonishing referee Marty Miller.
Ken Resnick: I think Flair should be admonishing his own teammate, Harley Race because it was Harley Race distracting Marty Miller so he could not see the pin fall Flair had on Hanson and therefore not make the count!
Verne Gagne: There’s a guy that we didn’t expect to see ever again after the thumping he took in the Bar Room Brawl match at AWA War Games, as running in from the crowd we are seeing Terry Funk slipping a chair into the cage through the gap in the corner to Stan Hanson!
Ken Resnick: Oh, this is going to get interesting! Stan Hanson has the chair and he’s staring both Flair and Rhodes straight in the eye! Who will he hit?!
Verne Gagne: That a boy Stan!
Ken Resnick: Stan Hanson has walloped Ric Flair right between the eyes with the chair and the crowd here is going nuts as Flair has been knocked out cold!
Ken Resnick: Dusty Rhodes goes to shake hands with Hanson and….oh c’mon, Hanson just nailed Rhodes with a chair as well! Stan Hanson was in it for himself all along. He tried to pretend all along he had no friends just so he could swerve us all!
Verne Gagne: Stan Hanson adds a little insult to injury here as he has gone over and got the three count on Ric Flair!
ken Resnick: This is unbelievable that he turns his back on Dusty Rhodes just so that he could get one over on Ric Flair!
Stan Hanson:Rhodes you should have known you can never trust an old snake in the grass like me! I'm the champion, I'm going stay the champion. I know y'all want my belt but I've always got another trick up my sleeve! I just out smarted both of ya! You can’t get the world championship from me! I told you Dusty you would get a title shot if I walked out with the titles, forget about it, you didn’t do your job in protecting me! C’mon Terry, let’s go party!
Ken Resnick: Folks, that’s all for us here at AWA War Games, good night everybody! What a night!
