Ken Resnick: Welcome everyone to AWA All-Star Wrestling! An eerie way to start the show as One Man Gang and King Kong Bundy are outside the arena and seem to be talking over something rather important. They have seemed to be two men without a direction in life after Jake Roberts mysterious disappearance.
One Man Gang: Did you see him last week? He was only there for a second and was gone.
King Kong Bundy: I wish he would give us a sign, something to find hope in, I feel completely lost without his direction.
King Kong Bundy: Let’s get out of here, there’s nothing that we will find here. I just don’t know how much longer I can go on like this.
Gordon Solie: Wait a second, they left too soon, look what is laying there behind them!
Ken Resnick: Tonight we are in the gamblers paradise known as Las Vegas, Nevada as we come to you from the beautiful Showboat Sports Pavilion. A little bit of history being made tonight here as we have not two, but three announcers calling the action as I am joined alongside Gordon Solie and the newest member of the AWA Announcing Team, Eddie Gilbert.
Eddie Gilbert: That’s Hot Stuff to you Resnick! Anyways, let’s get the action rolling tonight as in our opening contest we have one of the greatest musicians I have ever seen in Honky Tonk Man taking on the youngster, Sam Houston.
Gordon Solie: We saw the Honky Tonk Man make his debut a few weeks ago in impressive fashion with a win here on AWA All-Star Wrestling. Last week, a fuse may have very well been lit under the Hot Rod when there was a disagreement over the accomplishments of their respective musical instruments in the guitar and the bagpipes which led to Honky Tonk Man attacking Roddy on Piper’s Pit.
Ken Resnick: You can’t take anything away from Honky Tonk Man, he is indeed an accomplished competitor. He delivers a big boot to Sam Houston to get this match under way.
Eddie Gilbert: Sam Houston? Who? Never heard of the bum.
Ken Resnick: Honky Tonk Man is showing no mercy on poor Sam Houston here as he delivers a solid boot to the back of the head.
Eddie Gilbert: Think it needs to be a solid boot to the behind to get this lackluster guy out of the AWA.
Gordon Solie: We saw Honky Tonk pull off this devastating maneuver a few weeks ago, a spinning neck breaker that he calls the Shake, Rattle and Roll.
Ken Resnick: Here comes the shake….
Eddie Gilbert: There goes the rattle….
Gordon Solie: And there is the roll as Honky Tonk Man easily score the pin fall over Sam Houston here on AWA All-Star Wrestling. This guy is impressive, I have to give him that.
Ken Resnick: Here comes Roddy Piper as it looks like he wants to give Honky Tonk Man a tune up with his bagpipes!
Eddie Gilbert: Hey, totally uncalled for, everybody knows that the sweet sound of country music tops anybody tooting a horn any day of the week!
Gordon Solie: These two are battling it out as AWA referees have scrambled down to the ring to try and put a stop to this. This grudge has been turned up a notch and a battle over the superior style of music has erupted here in the AWA. We’ll be right back.
Ken Resnick: Back here on AWA All-Star Wrestling as we now go to a live remote in Ann Arbor, Michigan at the University of Michigan as the Varsity Club looks to be holding open tryouts today.
Steve Williams: Dan, Don, Mark…you know we are looking for the best Olympic wrestling athletes out there today. That’s why I’d like to introduce to you, Rick Steiner. Rick is an All-American wrestler from right here at the University of Michigan. I’m going to give him a tryout match here today against Don Frye to see if he is Varsity Club material.
Ken Resnick: Well here we go, we are going to have a Olympic style wrestling match right here on AWA All-Star Wrestling as this is definitely a first as it will be Don Frye taking on the relatively unknown of Rick Steiner.
Eddie Gilbert: Ah…nothing like a few neck cranks, sprained ankles and broken arms to get you going in the morning!
Gordon Solie: The two men start out by jockeying for position here as they look for the advantage which is customary in a match of these sorts.
Ken Resnick: Wow, what an impressive back suplex by Rick Steiner. He lifted the heavy and muscular Frye right off his feet and planted him on the mat. This Rick Steiner looks mighty impressive in this match so far.
Gordon Solie: But win or lose, I think it all comes down to proving himself to Dr. Death, he is the leader of the Varsity Club and will ultimately decide whether he is Varsity Club material or not.
Ken Resnick: In addition to the power that Rick Steiner possesses, he also has a great ground game. He’s got Don Frye down on the mat with a front head lock and Don Frye is tapping the mat to signal that he is submitting in this match! The winner of this impromptu Olympic wrestling match is Rick Steiner.
Steve Williams: Rick, you really impressed me there. I don’t think I have ever seen a man beat Don Frye. If you can beat Don, I think you are Varsity Club material. I am offering you a spot in the Varsity Club, what do you say?
Rick Steiner: ah….um…..yea, I’ll take it.
Steve Williams: Great, you’ll be under MY tutelage and I will show YOU how things are done! The Varsity Club is about to go straight to the top and under MY leadership we will not be stopped!
Gordon Solie: Back here on AWA All-Star Wrestling, we are joined by Gino Hernandez and Missy Hyatt in the AWA Interview Area.
Gino Hernandez: I took his name, I took his jacket….and most of all we took his career. Jimmy Garvin is no more. Jimmy Garvin is gone. There is only one Gorgeous once left in the AWA. It’s me, Gorgeous Gino Hernandez! After last week, Eddie Gilbert left me Garvin’s jacket and said that I was free of the contract of Hot Stuff International. So, you are now looking at the power couple of the AWA! Missy Hyatt myself are now wrestling’s hottest free agents and we will go to the highest bidder who stacks all the cash out in front of us on the table!
Rick Rude: Gino, first off, I’d like to thank you…well more Eddie than you…for ridding the AWA of our problems, also known as Jimmy Garvin and Precious. It’s about time they finally get out of our hair. Secondly, I hear you out here saying you are looking for a suitor for Missy and yourself. Gino, I’d like to offer you a spot in Simply Ravishing, the group with myself, Iceman Parsons and our newest member, our beautiful valet, Sensational Sherri.
Gino Hernandez: What’s the offer that you have for me?
Rick Rude: I will double what Andy Kaufman was paying you, I will double your salary to $20,000.
Gino Hernandez: Now we are talking, what kind of money offer do you have for Missy?
Rick Rude: Missy? Who said anything about Missy? I just want you. We already have the best valet in the world, Sensational Sherri, why would we want anybody else?
Gino Hernandez: I don’t know about this, you’re going to have to give me some time to field other offers.
Rick Rude: Other offers? I just gave you the best offer you’ll get!
Gordon Solie: Looks like Gino has some thinking to do, will he take the $20,000 or stay loyal to Missy Hyatt? We’ll be right back after this break.
Ken Resnick: Next up we have Chris Adams and Terry Taylor defending the AWA World Tag Team Championship against the challenge of Jim Duggan and Tito Santana.
Gordon Solie: Last week, we saw Terry Taylor “inexplicably” show up late for their tag team title defense against Butch Miller and Great Kokina. He frantically ran into the ring and cost himself and Taylor the match with a DQ. Can these two guys get back on the same page, because the sky is the limit for this team.
Eddie Gilbert: Same page? They may not even be in the same book tonight!
Ken Resnick: Chris Adams is all business as he heads to the ring but look at Terry Taylor, he is lagging behind basking in the glory and adoration of the crowd. Something doesn’t seem quite right here.
Gordon Solie: Jim Duggan starts out this match by draping Adams over the top rope and doing a number on his lower back. Terry, what are you doing?! You haven’t even taken your belt off, get in there and help your partner out!
Terry Taylor: Don’t worry about it Gordon, this is all under control. Chis got a little upset with me when I came in the ring last week and gave up the DQ. So this week, we agreed I won’t get involved and he’ll handle it all.
Ken Resnick: Looks like Chris Adams may be going it alone here in this title match as Jim Duggan is really doing a number on him.
Terry Taylor: He’s fine…..fine people of TV land, how do I look on your television screen?
Eddie Gilbert: You look amazing Terry, amazing!
Gordon Solie: He better come down to earth and get ahold of himself right now or else he may not be getting anymore TV time when he is no longer a AWA World Tag Team Champion!
Eddie Gilbert: Ol’ Chico Santana is blowing it allowing Chris Adams to get the body slam. See, Terry shouldn’t be risking injury to his handsome exterior, Chris has this handle!
Gordon Solie: Jim Duggan connects with a huge back body drop on Chris Adams. We have seen this before as he uses this maneuver as a setup to his three point tackle stance which has put many a man away for the three count.
Ken Resnick: Tito Santana has come in to try and finish this one off for he and Duggan as we may have a huge upset brewing right now.
Gordon Solie: Tito comes flying off the top rope with a body press and this could be it for the Adams and Taylor title reign!
Ken Resnick: One…Two…Thr….oh, so close! I thought we had new champions right then and there!
Gordon Solie: Both men are groggy and fatigued and trying to crawl to their corners.
Eddie Gilbert: See, Chris Adams is not great enough to be a champion so Terry Taylor needs to go in there and handle it himself.
ken Resnick: This could have been an easy match for the two if Taylor wouldn’t have been yapping away to us on the outside and paying attention to the match and helping out Adams.
Terry Taylor: Eddie, do I look good or do I look good?
Gordon Solie: What is this? Adams was right on the verge of making the tag when Taylor stepped away from the corner and began chatting with Eddie Gilbert at the announce table. What has gotten in the head of Taylor?
Gordon Solie: Jim Duggan senses victory and comes charging in at Chris Adams but out of nowhere Adams kicks him with his Super Judo Karate Kick! That should be all as Chris Adams will make the pin and seal the deal on this one.
Ken Resnick: Chris Adams has fallen over in the corner from exhaustion and Terry Taylor is tagging himself into the match.
Eddie Gilbert: And there is the three count! The winner and STILL AWA World Tag Team Champion, Terry Taylor!
Ken Resnick: Aren’t you forgetting Chris Adams name too?
Eddie Gilbert: He didn’t pin the guy, he did nothing for the team in this match!
Gordon Solie: Terry Taylor comes in at the last second to hog the spotlight after it was Adam’s Super Kick that put Duggan down for the count.
Ken Resnick: Referee Earl Hebner raises the hand of Terry Taylor in victory after he scores the pin fall but as you can tell Chris Adams is none too happy with the behavior of his partner here tonight. We’ll be right back after these commercial messages.
Jerry Lawler: Billy, I can’t thank you enough. It meant the world to me that you helped me out in finally getting the AWA US title away from Studd and Kaufman and getting a sweet dose of revenge on Kaufman with that pile driver. But what makes me trust you? You were with Andy since the beginning of the AWA.
Billy Graham: I got sick of his antics. He was making a mockery of the AWA and what it stood for with his phony challenges to inferior opponents. I just fed into it by helping him scrape out those wins to those inferior opponents. But I got plain sick of it when he sold the contract rights of Gino Hernandez away to Hot Stuff International. To him, we were nothing but money, we weren’t even people to him. All he saw was dollar signs. Jerry, I want to help you get your crown back that he stole from you all the way back at AWA When Worlds Collide. Let’s do this together and right his wrongs as well as the ones I have committed.
Ken Resnick: A locker room attack by Kaufman and Studd! Jerry Lawler and Billy Graham never even saw it coming! This is totally uncalled for and very dangerous especially with that giant ladder and solid steel trash can!
Ken Resnick: What is John Studd doing? Those ladders are meant for the light riggers in the arena! They aren’t meant to be climbed on like that!
Eddie Gilbert: YES! The master of the body slam strikes again!
Ken Resnick: John Studd just body slammed Jerry Lawler off the top of those ladders and right through a table! The man that defeated Studd for the AWA US title is now getting paid back by Studd.
Eddie Gilbert: Listen to Andy’s beautiful signing voice!
Andy Kaufman: I’m the king, well I’m the king of pro rasslin, I took that Lawler out right now and I’m going to take him out again….woo hoo!!!!
Ken Resnick: Sick….just sick….we’ll be back with our AWA All-Star Wrestling main event right after this.
Ken Resnick: Main event time here now as we have a grudge match that has flared up after AWA Southwest Shootout. The Four Horsemen used the sneaky tactics of referee Danny Davis to sneak out a AWA World title win and then shocked the AWA Ric Flair and the Horsemen attacked Dusty Rhodes and Lex Luger just a few weeks removed from themselves being saved by Dusty and Lex.
Gordon Solie: Tonight, we see a tag team match as Arn Anderson and Barry Windham take on Dusty Rhodes and Lex Luger with bad intentions on the mind of all four men.
Eddie Gilbert: What is this? This is a totally illegal maneuver! He’s stomping on Windham’s toes!
Ken Resnick: What are you talking about Eddie? Lex is using his complete strength advantage over Barry Windham here in this test of strength, not a stomping of the toes as Hot Stuff believes is happening.
Gordon Solie: Lex Luger is steaming mad tonight after basically having the title in hand at AWA Southwest Shootout before referee Danny Davis had a “lapse in judgement”. He is firing on all cylinders here tonight as he delivers a devastating bod slam to Windham that has the big Texan shaken up.
Ken Resnick: Dusty and Lex are now working like a well-oiled machine here as Lex tags out to Dusty and he comes in and drops his huge bionic elbow straight down on top of the head of Barry Windham.
Gordon Solie: Barry Windham has been in there for quite a while and taken quite a bit of punishment. He has got to be looking for a tag here soon or he’ll be hitting the showers pretty quickly here tonight.
Ken Resnick: Tully Blanchard up on the apron now but he is going to pay dearly for that as Dusty delivers yet another bionic elbow.
Gordon Solie: Perhaps Tully was willing to eat that bionic elbow as that slight interference has enabled Barry Windham to get over the corner and make the much needed tag into Arn Anderson.
Gordon Solie: I don’t think Dusty cares which of the members of the Four Horsemen are in there. He is attacking and battering all of them in short order!
Eddie Gilbert: Has anybody checked that elbow pad of his? There has got to be a steel plate or something in there!
Ken Resnick: Perhaps a message being sent to Ric Flair here?
Gordon Solie: Dusty has Arn locked in Flair’s patented Figure Four and Arn Anderson is forced to give it up! The winners of this match by submission are Dusty Rhodes and Lex Luger.
Ken Resnick: Even after the bell has rang to end this match, Dusty really wants to drive the point home to Flair here as he will not release the hold! Dusty wants to make sure Flair knows that he is a marked man and that he is coming for his title!
Eddie Gilbert: Dusty better watch it because he is a marked man by the Jim Cornette Experience as well!
Gordon Solie: Bam Bam Bigelow and Buzz Sawyer have hit the ring as they attack Dusty and Lex! Oh, the Mongolian Spike of Buzz Sawyer right into the eye of Dusty Rhodes!
Gordon Solie: Here comes Magnum TA to come down to try and make the save, but he is being completely over powered by the bigger Bigelow.
Eddie Gilbert: C’mon Buzz, gauge his eye out!
Ken Resnick: would you stop it Eddie! You are rooting for a man to go blind all because of that ever dangerous Mongolian Spike!
Bam Bam Bigelow: You see that? You see that?! That’s what we have in store for the Four Horsemen! In fact, I’ll have that in store for you next week! After my tag team fall victory a few weeks ago on AWA All-Star Wrestling, the AWA Championship Committee has granted me a AWA World Heavyweight title match next week against Ric Flair right here on AWA All-Star Wrestling! He better bring that belt and shine it up real nice because next week that title is coming home with me!
Gordon Solie: AWA fans, we are out of time this week here on AWA All-Star Wrestling but be sure to tune in next week when we have a gigantic AWA World title collision as Ric Flair takes on the challenger for the title, Bam Bam Bigelow. Good night everybody!
