Stanley Blackburn: Welcome everyone to AWA All-Star Wrestling. I am AWA President, Stanley Blackburn and joining me in the ring right now is two of the most esteemed wrestling promoters in the world today. To my right is the promoter of UWF Wrestling is “Cowboy” Bill Watts and to my left is the promoter of All-Japan Wrestling, Giant Baba. Today we will be announcing who will be hosting the first annual AWA Hercules Cortez Memorial Tag Team Tournament. The host locations have been narrowed down to these two finalists that you see here, UWF and All-Japan. Let’s hear from both of these promoters before the final selection is announced.
Bill Watts: Thank you for that great introduction Mr. Blackburn. The UWF has decided that if we win the bid for the tournament we will be holding the tournament in the Louisiana Superdome in just two weeks’ time. Many great wrestling events have been held at this facility in the past and we hope that this prestigious tournament is the next in the line of those events.
Stanley Blackburn: You’ll have to excuse Mr. Baba as he says that his English is not very good.
Giant Baba: Baba say that tournament be held at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo…Japan. All-Japan very happy chosen for tournament. Make Tokyo very happy to host all great wrestlers from AWA.
Stanley Blackburn: Folks after voting from the AWA Board of Directors as well as voting from the other wrestling promoters around the country we have decided to award the bid for this prestigious tournament to Giant Baba and All-Japan Pro Wrestling! The tournament will be held in two weeks at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
Michael Hayes: Haha, the hottest free agents in pro wrestling have arrived. We said we were coming, you just didn’t know when. And since the big announcement has been made, I thought it was just as good a time as any to let you all know that we have entered ourselves into the AWA Hercules Cortez Memorial Tag Team Tournament. That’s right, Michael “PS” Hayes and Terry “Bam Bam” Gordy are on the scene and we are here for two things, winning all the gold and kicking butt while we’re doing it! What’s the matter Watts? Looks like you got a tear in your eye, what’s the matter, your dog die or something? Watts you've always been a crybaby when you didn’t get your way, you Oklahoma people you’re all so self entitled and think the world gets handed to you on a silver spoon. Meanwhile us good hard working Georgia people work for everything that comes to us. Watts you’re not as tough as us just step out of the way, you lost the bid, now get out of our ring so we can tell all these people how great a team we are.
Bill Watts: I don't know what you two are up to but you guys need to step out of the ring right now. This is a very important meeting I am having with Mr. Blackburn. I have some very important business that I'm attending to here and you two are interfering in it, so just back off right now. I'm upset that we lost the bid for the Hercules Cortez Memorial Tag Team Tournament. We have had our problems in the past Hayes, but I don’t want to open those old wounds up right now, I have bigger things to focus on.
Michael Hayes: Watts, are you telling me that we aren’t big enough deal to you? You better think again.
Ken Resnick: Well Watts looks to be leaving the ring now along with Stanley Blackburn but Hayes is still yelling at Watts to pay attention to him.
Michael Hayes: Where are you going we are not done talking to you man!
Gordon Solie: The Freebirds have attacked Bill Watts as he exits the ring! I can't believe this, they blindsided Watts!
Ken Resnick: Hayes and Gordy are putting the boots to Bill Watts right now as Stanley Blackburn is pretty much helpless in aiding Watts. He's not a wrestler and couldn’t out match Hayes and Gordy. He is just watching this beat down occur in the ring right now as it is Hayes leading the attack as Gordy is taking the orders.
Gordon Solie: Somebody needs to put a stop to this heinous attack! Terry Gordy is on the top rope with Bill Watts on his shoulder and looks like Gordy wants to go for his infamous Bam Bam Slam!
Ken Resnick: The Bam Bam Slam puts Bill Watts out cold as Terry Gordy and Michael Hayes are proud of the work they've done. Stanley Blackburn meanwhile is checking on the condition of Bill Watts but here comes the Junkyard Dog to the ring and he does not look happy as he is confronting Hayes and Gordy! I can’t wait to see the retribution that the Cowboy unleashes on the Freebirds. Because if we know Bill Watts he knows all about payback and the Freebirds are definitely in store for it!
Gordon Solie: We’ll be back following these important messages as we’ll join Ric Flair in the locker room to hear the announcement of who the newest member of the Four Horsemen is here in AWA All-Star Wrestling!
Ken Resnick: Let's go back to the locker room as the NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Ric Flair has a major announcement to make.
Ric Flair: That's right Ken Resnick, I do have a major announcement to make! Last week we took out the weak link in the Four Horsemen, Harley Race, the Four Horsemen cannot have a weak link amongst it. The man that cost me Stan Hanson’s AWA World Heavyweight Championship back at AWA War Games, so the Four Horsemen cannot be the Three Horsemen so we have gone out and recruited one of the top competitors in the world today to take over Harley Race’s spot in the Four Horsemen. Let me introduce him to you now!
Ric Flair: Here is the newest member of the Four Horsemen as well as my partner during the AWA Hercules Cortez Memorial Tag Team Tournament, Tully Blanchard!
Tully Blanchard: I’ve got a few words to say, first off thank you Ric for inviting me into the Four Horsemen. Ric you know what I'm all about, you know that I'm here for the championships, that I'm here for the gold, I'm here for the fame, I'm here for the women and I'm here for the money most of all! You know that between myself, Arn Anderson and Barry Windham that we will get you that AWA World Heavyweight Championship through hell or high water!
Gordon Solie: Now we move back to the ring as we have one of the most interesting individuals to ever grace the squared circle making his debut here today on AWA All-Star wrestling as it is Jake “The Snake” Roberts. He is a very methodical individual man that loves to play mind games as we see here was he sits in the corner to start this matchup, very unorthodox.
Ken Resnick: Jake's opponent for tonight is Dick Murdoch who was on Team Rhodes which came out on the losing end of AWA War Games when their own teammate in Stan Hanson turned his back on them and went into business for himself in order to regain the AWA World Title. Referee for this match is Jerry Calhoun as he checks the boots of Dick Murdoch.
Gordon Solie: Well Jerry Calhoun has rang the bell and Jake Roberts is still sitting in the corner while Dick Murdoch is egging him on trying to get them out of the corner but Jake doesn't seem to be in any hurry or have any interest whatsoever to get out of that corner and start this match. As if he’s trying to put Murdoch into some sort of spell.
Ken Resnick: Now we see why Jake Roberts did not want to start this match as two large individuals…..
Gordon Solie: That's King Kong Bundy and the One Man Gang who have both entered the ring and they are double teaming Dick Murdoch as Jerry Calhoun pretty much has nothing he can do in this situation! He’s surly not going to want to get in the middle of these two individuals to break it up. This is just a mob attack by Bundy and the Gang!
Gordon Solie: No…not the…it’s the One Man Gang with his huge 747 splash right onto the midsection of Murdoch. That could easily break the ribs of Dick Murdoch! King Kong Bundy meanwhile is in the corner holding back Jerry Calhoun! It's almost as if Jake Roberts has a trance over both of these men to do exactly what he wants them to do!
Ken Resnick: Here comes Dusty Rhodes to try and save his friend Dick Murdoch, as King Kong Bundy holds back Dusty Rhodes, Jake Roberts is just staring methodically into the eyes of Dusty Rhodes as Rhodes is incensed over what Jake Roberts is ordering be done to his friend Dick Murdoch!
Gordon Solie: Jake Roberts hits Dusty Rhodes over the back of his head with his Mystical Shalaylee! Jake Roberts says that his Mystical Shlaylee holds special powers and it may have been those special powers that were able to knock Dusty Rhodes out for the count!
Ken Resnick: Would you just look at Jake Roberts standing in the ring with the One Man Gang and King Kong Bundy at his side over the lifeless bodies of Dusty Rhodes and Dick Murdoch. Sounds like Roberts has something to say.
Jake RobertsDusty Rhodes you have unleashed the mystical power. With this power the “American Dream” is about to crumble. Dusty Rhodes the faces of fear have entered the AWA. Dusty Rhodes the dungeon of doom has entered the AWA. You are now dealing with the Snake Pit, Dusty Rhodes. You are about to endure the wrath of the Snake Pit, a wrath which you have never quite experienced in your entire life time and will never again. Good luck Rhodes, your mind, your body and your soul are now mine.
Ken Resnick: What does he mean? What’s he talking about Gordon? This is a strange individual who gives me very creepy vibes. We’ll be right back here on AWA All-Star Wrestling after this commercial break.
Ken Resnick: Here is a very interesting situation that we have seen as of late as in the ring we have “Ravishing” Rick Rude and “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert along with “Eddie Gilbert’s Valet” Precious. I use the term of “Eddie Gilbert’s valet” very loosely as we have seen Rude and Precious flirting quite a bit as of late. Hot Stuff International showed strife amongst its ranks at AWA war Games when Rude somewhat abandoned Gilbert in the middle of the tag team match. Further complicating the situation occurred when “Miss Gorgeous” actually unveiled herself to be “Gorgeous” Jimmy Garvin, the former love of Precious. Jimmy along with cousin, Ronnie Garvin, were able to pick up the victory when Rude left Gilbert by the wayside and left the arena with Precious. Eddie Gilbert seems none too happy with this love triangle and keeps asserting that Precious is his and only his in this love triangle.
Eddie Gilbert: Rick Rude, I told you once and I'll tell you for the last time she is mine you are not to be around her, you are not to touch her, you are not to look at her! Precious is mine and only mine! Stay away from her Rick! You hear me! She is mine this is the end of the matter! I want to say no more about it!
Gordon Solie: As Eddie Gilbert is turning his back to Rude to pander to the ringside cameraman, Rude is planting a huge kiss on the face of Precious! Gilbert you better turn around and see what's going on right now!
Eddie Gilbert: I told you to get your hands off of her! Get over here right now! This is over! The unstable relationship in Hot Stuff International finally looks like it has broke down!
Ken Resnick: Here we go, things are finally breaking down! Gilbert and Rude are on the ground rolling around like a couple kids fighting over a girl in the school yard! Poor Precious is caught in the middle of all this!
Gordon Solie: I wouldn’t say “poor Precious”, she started all of this! This is unbelievable, Hot Stuff International is falling apart at the seams! for anger
Gordon Solie: Jimmy Garvin who we saw return after the loser leaves town match back at AWA Wrestle Rock is attacking Eddie Gilbert now, talk about more salt in the wound of Gilbert! Remember that it was Precious who used to be with Jimmy Garvin! What an unstable and volatile relationship we are seeing explode here between Precious, Rude, Gilbert and now add to the mix, Jimmy Garvin!
Ken Resnick: Garvin is looking to get his revenge here on Eddie Gilbert, but look at this as Rude is carrying Precious out of the studio right now! What a strange situation we have here as the love triangle is turning into a love square I guess! Be sure to stay tuned as this is an ever evolving situation that it seems to be changing from week to week!
Gordon Solie: We move onto the main event here on AWA All-star Wrestling as it is Barry Windham taking on the recently shunned member of the Four Horsemen, Harley Race.
Ken Resnick: Harley Race starting out the match up with one of his signature moves as he connects with his famous double under hook suplex on Barry Windham!
Gordon Solie: What a technical masterpiece that move is to see in person. Harley although he is a long time veteran of the sport is still a student of the game and ever evolving his mat prowess.
Gordon Solie: Harley Race now connecting on Windham as he works over that neck and shoulder area with a reverse neckbreaker. First it was the double under hook suplex and now the reverse neck breaker. What atrue mat technician Race is, I’m not sure what Flair was thinking when he booted Race out of the group. A momentarily lapse in judgement cost Race his spot in the Horsemen.
Gordon Solie: Windham on the outside now taking a breather as he is really taking a beating from Harley Race in this match up.
Ken Resnick: Arn Anderson on the outside with Windham, possibly giving him some advice, or in the Horsemen’s case, I wouldn’t be surprised if their hatching some evil, devious and very much illegal plan for this match.
Ken Resnick: In typical Four Horsemen fashion, Barry Windham with a couple of fingers in the eye has turned the tide of this matchup as referee Jerry Calhoun is in there to admonish Barry Windham for those illegal tactics.
Gordon Solie: More underhanded tactics here from Barry Windham as he takes the point of that cowboy boot he wears into the ring and he is driving it, almost jabbing it into the eye of Harley Race. Jerry Calhoun once again admonishing him for these illegal tactics in this match.
Ken Resnick: Look in the background as it looks like we may have a visitor here on the scene as Stan Hanson and Terry Funk have made their way to ringside area. We know that they’ve had their problems with the Four Horsemen.
Ken Resnick: Windham working over Race more with those cowboy boots as Jerry Calhoun really needs to get this match under control or else this one is going to get out of hand and in a hurry, especially with the price that Harley wants to pay back to the Four Horsemen.
Ken Resnick: Barry Windham is up on the top rope with Harley Race and looks like he is about to go for his big Superplex off the top rope!
Gordon Solie: Windham drops the Superplex on Race and that should just be about it for Harley Race in this match!
Ken Resnick: Barry Windham with the three count on Harley Race as he intensely stares at both Hanson and Funk who are standing on the outside.
Gordon Solie: You know that Flair has given both Anderson and Windham explicit instructions to soften up Stan Hanson and get that title by any means necessary.
Gordon Solie: Windham and Anderson turn their backs for a moment to celebrate their win but here comes Hanson and Funk as they attack from behind! They are sending the Four Horsemen and especially a message to Ric Flair to be careful of both Hanson and Funk or they’ll suffer the wrath!
Ken Resnick: Stan Hanson connects with his giant lariat clothesline on Anderson and Terry Funk drops Windham with a giant pile driver right in the middle of the ring. This has got to be a message to Flair to be careful heading into their big title vs. title match coming up at AWA Clash of the Champions.
Stan Hanson: Ric Flair, we just took out your Four Horsemen. At the Hercules Cortez Memorial Tag Team Tournament we've entered our names and they've already signed our first round match! And Flair, it’s one you’re going to love. Stan Hanson and Terry Funk take on Ric Flair and Tully Blanchard. You are going to get it now Flair, you won't be able to even compete for the title at night at Clash of the Champions. The message has been sent and I already know you don’t have an answer for it.
Ken Resnick: That’s all for AWA All-Star Wrestling tonight folks! We will see you later, good night!
