Ken Resnick: Welcome to another exciting and action packed edition of AWA All-Star Wrestling. After the events that unfolded last week at AWA Wrestle Rumble, who knows what direction a lot of these wrestlers are headed towards. In the ring right now, is one of those men, AWA World Heavyweight Champion, Stan Hanson.
Stan Hanson: I come out here to address a few things that have been bugging me lately. First off, there's the matter of Scott Hall. Scott, you think you deserve to be the AWA World's Champion. But sometimes, coming into a big match like the one we just had, the champion has the advantage in more ways than one. I can truly tell you Scott, I'm not sure what Ric Flair's motives are. He says he wants to be the man that defeats me for the AWA World Heavyweight Championship. Well, it'll be a cold day in Texas when I let go of this title belt. This brings me to my second point, Ric Flair. What in the sam hill are you doing Ric?! What makes you think you deserve a world title shot against me? I beat you in the middle of the ring, you had your chance and now you go to the bottom. There will be no more rematches, you just wait your turn. And beating a couple guys with absolutely zero wins in this company isn't going to help you out in the least. At this point in time, they all think that the walls are starting to cave in on me. I'll admit, even in victory at AWA Wrestle Rumble, I am a man defeated. A man with no alliances. You see Dusty Rhodes severely injured my good friend and my only ally in this fight, Terry Funk. I will get my revenge. One way or the other. And at the end of the day, I will continue to stand tall with the AWA World Title around my waist.
Verne Gagne: You heard it there folks as we welcome you again to AWA All-Star Wrestling. The AWA World Champ, Stan Hanson, a man with no country it seems. His back against the wall and a list of challengers a mile long. He's got to find some help in this fight against Ric Flair and the Four Horsemen or else it may be too late.
Verne Gagne: One of the biggest shockers of AWA Wrestle Rumble came when "Superstar" Billy Graham outlasted 18 other competitors in a battle royal to become the first ever AWA United States Champion.
Ken Resnick: Verne, don't you mean 19 other competitors, it was a 20 man battle royal after all...
Verne Gagne: No Ken, I said it, and I mean it, 18 other competitors. Because Andy Kaufman doesn't count in that match. That little weasel snuck under the ring, and when it came down to the final two combatants in the ring, of course he provided the distraction as Billy Graham was able to eliminate Junkyard Dog to claim the title.
Ken Resnick: And speaking of Junkyard Dog, here he comes.
Junkyard Dog: Andy, Billy, you two just listen here for a minute. Now Mr. Stanley Blackburn says the Dog can't have a title shot until the next pay per view, AWA War Games. So I says to myself, somebody has to face that Graham for the title tonight. So Mr. Blackburn tells me I'm allowed to pick any man I want to come out here for a title shot.
Junkyard Dog: So I searched the locker room far and wide, and I chose the one and only pride of the Caribbean, Carlos Colon!
Ken Resnick: I definitely don't think that Andy and Billy were planning on this. Graham will be defending his newly won US title tonight against the challenge of Carlos Colon!
Verne Gagne: Carlos Colon starts this one out like a house of fire. Look at those brutal kicks to the gut. Those look like they're hitting hard enough to chop a tree down!
Ken Resnick: Carlos Colon follows up with a huge back body drop on Billy Graham as his advisor and the "President and CEO" of the "Andy Kaufman Cabaret of Hollywood Stars", the one and only himself, Andy Kaufman looks on nervously from the outside.
Verne Gagne: There better be one and only. I can't stand the one and only there is, let alone two of them.
Ken Resnick: Billy Graham looks like he's had enough of this one and is trying to escape from the ring.
Verne Gagne: But that won't be happening anytime soon. He's got a mean and angry dog patrolling this yard and he's growling right in the Superstar's face telling him to get right back in the ring.
Ken Resnick: And there's Carlos's finisher, the Island Coconut Cracker. We may have a first short lived first ever AWA US Champion!
Verne Gagne: Oh what's Kaufman doing up there on the apron, he's got the title belt and it looks like he's trying to pass it to Billy Graham.
Ken Resnick: But there's Junkyard dog right up there on the apron with Kaufman playing a little defense in breaking up the pass! And it looks like Carlos caught the belt and just nailed Graham right in the forehead with it!
Verne Gagne: Referee Marty Miller is down for the three count and we have a brand new AWA United States Champion in Carlos Colon! It serves Graham and Kaufman right to have their evil plans back fire on them. You play with fire, you're going to get burned!
Verne Gagne: There's a new champion that we can be proud of...
Ken Resnick: Hold on a second here, Marty Miller is questioning Carlos Colon why the title belt was already in the ring when the three count was made, and listen to Kaufman screaming on the outside.
Andy Kaufman: Ref! Referee! Hey! You! Marty! Colon hit Billy's pretty face with the belt. You can believe me, I'm from Hollywood, and I always tell the truth!
Verne Gagne: Oh what a travesty here. How can he get away with this? Referee Marty Miller has reversed his decision and is giving the match to Billy Graham and also awarding the AWA US title back to him. I can't believe this.
Ken Resnick: I'm not sure why Marty Miller believed Kaufman to begin with. It was Kaufman who originally threw the belt to Graham, but of course, his plan backfires on him, but he still gets rewarded for it. Looks like Junkyard Dog is going to have to wait until AWA War Games in just a few weeks’ time to get his revenge on this pair. We'll be right back after these special announcements from our broadcast partners here on AWA All-Star Wrestling.
Verne Gagne: And we are back here on AWA All-Star Wrestling.
Jerry Blackwell: The time has come. I am in the best shape of my life. and it may not have come at a more important time in my career. When my closest allies in Dusty Rhodes, Scott Hall and Dick Murdoch need me, I am going to be there for them. We have a fight on our hands like none other. One we must win. One that will be fought to the bitter end..against the Four Horsemen.
Arn Anderson: Well the war is about to end for you Blackwell!
Ken Resnick: Oh my! Arn Anderson and Barry Windham of the Four Horsemen are out doing Ric Flair's bidding for him! They have savagely attacked Jerry Blackwell while he was working out in the locker room. Windham is holding Blackwell down on that table while Arn Anderson drives that very heavy weight scale down onto the leg of Jerry Blackwell.
Verne Gagne: What an uncalled for attack as you can hear the ligaments stretching and the bones popping in Blackwell's leg.
Ken Resnick: And there's Scott Hall in there quickly to his friend's side to relieve him of the attack be perpetrated by Arn Anderson and Barry Windham.
Scott Hall: Oh you two think you got the upper hand in this one? Just wait until later tonight, you'll see, you'll see.
Ken Resnick: Let's get back to the ring where we have Eddie Gilbert along with the rest of Hot Stuff International.
Eddie Gilbert: You all think that Hot Stuff International is caving in. I read the AWA Magazines, I hear the chatter in the back. You all think that this is just a ticking powder keg ready to explode. Well I'm here to tell you all one thing, YOU'RE ALL WRONG! So we had a little miscommunication in the AWA US Title battle royal last week at AWA Wrestle Rumble. So what? Rick know his place in this hierarchy of Hot Stuff International and he knows who the leader is and he's fine with that. And as a sign of solidarity amongst us, here's to show you that all the rumors can be squashed right now.
Rick Rude: OK with it? I'm ok with it?
Eddie Gilbert: Shake my hand and smile for the camera Rick!
Ken Resnick: It would appear that things are not all that they seem in the mind of Eddie Gilbert here as we have seen a rift as of late between Eddie Gilbert and Rick Rude apparently over Rick Rude's attraction to Eddie's girl, Precious.
Ken Resnick: Our next event will feature two members of Hot Stuff International, the bodyguards of the group, Bill & Scott Irwin, better known as the Long Riders as they take on the debuting "Hands of Stone" Ronnie Garvin and the returning Jim Brunzell.
Ronnie Garvin: Hold on a second Jim. We aren't ready for this match. You notice that there's a whole lot of them and not a lot of us? Don't you think we need to even the score up a little bit?
Jim Brunzell: Yea, Ronnie, I think we do.
Ronnie Garvin: i was thinking you’d say that. So I went out and hired us a valet. Let me introduce to you, the newest valet here in the AWA, Miss Gorgeous!
Verne Gagne: That's the strangest looking lady I have ever seen. Does that lady have a full beard growing off her? And look at that long blonde hair?
Ken Resnick: Um Verne......
Ken Resnick: Eddie Gilbert must be thinking the same thing that Verne is right now, as he inspects this "lady" that has appeared by the side of Ronnie Garvin and Jim Brunzell as the beginning of this match. An interesting turn of events here if that's who I'm almost positive it is.
Eddie Gilbert: You look awfully familiar. I think I know you from somewhere. You better tell me who you are. Did you apply for your AWA Valet's License? Blackburn! I want to see this girl's license!
Verne Gagne: while I try to get the image burned into my eyes of this Miss Gorgeous out of my mind it's going to be Ronnie Garvin starting out this match against Scott Irwin.
Ken Resnick: Wow! What a blow! Ronnie Garvin threw one punch at Scott Irwin and Scott Irwin has been knocked out cold.
Verne Gagne: They don't call this guy the "Hands of Stone" for nothing!
Ken Resnick: Referee Marty Miller down for the count and that's all she wrote. And impressive one punch knockout by Ronnie Garvin has sent the Long Riders and more importantly, Hot Stuff International into even more of a tailspin after that lopsided victory!
Eddie Gilbert: It's got to be you. And you know I have my ways of finding out. I will out you for who you really are and show everyone your true identity. You just wait and see.
Miss Gorgeous: Go ahead Edward. I am your worst nightmare. I am worse than an ex-girlfriend. You just wait and see!
Ken Resnick: Well there's no telling where this plot twist is going to take us. The walls seem to be caving in on both fronts for Eddie Gilbert. He's trying to hold Hot Stuff International together as Rick Rude appears to be going rogue and at the same time, now it looks like he'll be fighting off the threat of Miss Gorgeous and Ronnie Garvin!
Ken Resnick: We are back here on AWA All-Star Wrestling and are being joined in the ring by the former AWA World Tag Team Champions, the Road Warriors.
Paul Ellering: I hope you all saw what transpired last week at AWA Wrestle Rumble. Greg Gagne thought it would be great to piledriver me off the stage at AWA WrestleRock last month, so we decided that we needed to "up" the stakes last week at AWA Wrestle Rumble by giving Greg our Doomsday Device off a ladder and through a table. But you won't believe that I am saying this, but this war must end. And it must end in just a few weeks’ time. You see Hawk and Animal are on top of these ladders. And that's exactly what I am offering to you. In three weeks’ time at AWA War Games, a ladder match. Winner takes all. The belts hanging above the ring and the first team to reach those belts takes them as their own and this ends. What do you say Greg and Curt?
Greg Gagne: You know what Paul, for the first time in a long time, and who knows, maybe even ever, we finally agree on something. I have waited for this day for a long time. Winner takes all sounds good to me. Bring all the ladders you want, we'll strap these belts high in the sky and the first to grab them wins it all. AWA War Games....I really am beginning to like the name of that.
Ken Resnick: You heard it here first, AWA War Games, our next PPV event, it will be Greg Gagne & Curt Hennig putting the AWA World Tag Team titles on the line in a ladder match. First to grab the titles which will be hanging high above the ring will be declared the winners. This is one you are not going to want to miss.
Verne Gagne: And now we are moving on to the main event here on AWA All-Star Wrestling as we'll have the Four Horsemen tandem of Harley Race and Barry Windham taking on the Texas Outlaws of Dusty Rhodes and Dick Murdoch.
Ken Resnick: Earlier we saw Barry Windham along with the "Enforcer of the Four Horsemen", Arn Anderson absolutely destroy the leg of Jerry Blackwell. This puts Rhodes, Murdoch and Hall at a man disadvantage now in their fight against the Horsemen.
Ken Resnick: And before Marty Miller even has a chance to ring the bell, this one has turned into an all-out slug fest brawl. All four men are tearing at each other with Rhodes and Murdoch no doubt looking for a dose of revenge for the actions perpetrated on Jerry Blackwell earlier.
Verne Gagne: What a massive boot by Dick Murdoch in the corner as Harley Race lays stunned and dazed. Meanwhile, Dusty Rhodes is working over Barry Windham like crazy on the outside.
Ken Resnick: If Marty Miller can't gain control of this match soon, he may have no choice but to throw in the towel on this one and declare it a no contest.
Ken Resnick: And just a few minutes after starting this one, Marty Miller is calling for the bell and declaring this one a no contest. He totally lost control of this match in the opening moments as Dusty Rhodes is savagely beating Barry Windham right on top of our announcer’s desk and Dick Murdoch is putting the fists to Harley Race in the corner. This one broke loose in a hurry and got real ugly, real fast.
Verne Gagne: And just like a pack of wolves, here comes Ric Flair and Arn Anderson to create a four on two situation. And just as was alluded to with the injury to Jerry Blackwell now, they are short one man in this fight against the Horsemen.
Ken Resnick: But once again, Scott Hall and that trusty steel chair are out to save the day. Dusty was taking a real pounding from Arn Anderson with that chair and needed to be stopped real quickly. The Four Horsemen are looking at Scott Hall with a smirk on their face as one by one tonight they have roughed up Jerry Blackwell and now Dusty Rhodes & Dick Murdoch.
Verne Gagne: And that'll be all for AWA All-Star.....
Ken Resnick: Wait a second. What is he doing out here? He's standing behind Scott Hall but I don't think Hall sees him. But the Four Horsemen surly know who they are looking at right now.....
